I don't know why I can't stop teasing Jen. Something about the way she stammers and flushes makes my heart squeeze. But, I don't want my heart involved in this. I wasn't kidding when I said I don't want to date a coworker. A casual hookup—a secret, casual hookup—is one thing, but I don't want my coworkers involved in my life. If Jen and I were dating, everyone would be all in our business.

I pull on a pair of black leggings with one of my usual sleep shirts so that Jen sees I'm serious about not doing anything if she doesn't want to. But fuck do I hope she wants to, future awkwardness at work be damned.

It should be easy to avoid her at work outside of the holiday stuff. She teaches on the other end of the building from me—on a different floor. We have different lunches and prep times. If it wasn't for this One Lakeland committee, our paths wouldn't cross at all. So we'll mess around a little until Christmas, and then everything can go back to how it was before.

When Jen returns in my Rudolf pants, and a skimpy black cami that hardly covers her stomach, and doesn't cover the copious amounts of cleavage spilling out, I actually have to force myself to breathe. Cute Jen is one thing, but holy fuck, hot Jen is quite another thing.

"You wouldn't have a t-shirt I can borrow, too?" she says, crossing her arms over her chest. "This is all I had under my sweater, and—"

"Nope. I'm all out of t-shirts," I say. "Guess you'll have to sleep in that. I certainly won't mind." I give her an obvious once over and her whole body flushes.

"Oh. Um."

I really should stop teasing her if I want her to feel comfortable. "Sorry, I'll stop ogling you like a lecherous old man."

I grab a t-shirt and toss it to her. She catches it, clinging it to her chest, but then she sets it down on the foot of my bed. "Actually, I think I'll leave it off for now. I'm feeling kind of warm right now." She's blushing even harder, all the way down her neck and chest. I want to see just how far down it goes. Suddenly I'm also feeling too warm.

"I'm just going to go pee and brush my teeth. Make yourself comfortable, and we can go to sleep or, you know, whatever you want."

When I return from the bathroom, Jen is in the bed, covers pulled up to her waist, leaning against my headboard with pillows propped behind her, scrolling on her phone. She looks so perfect there. She's hot, and I want to lick the skin along her clavicle and down between the valley of her rounded breasts, but it's more than that. I want to see her in my bed like that, comfortable and relaxed every day. The jokes about lesbians bringing a UHaul on their first date, have some serious basis in reality. This isn't even a date and I want her to stay with me forever.
